The Show Kitchen
With contrasting curves and clean lines, the standout feature in this room is the minimalist island, with a specialist finish that Langstaff is proud to pioneer the use of: liquid metal. Applied to the bespoke glazed units, handle trims and island, the antique brass liquid metal finish lifts and enhances the custom-stained Jasmine White Oak veneer cabinetry.
With a more practical service kitchen next door, the main kitchen was envisaged as a space for entertaining, where an air of quiet luxury prevails. With a sleek induction hob the only appliance on show, hidden out of view are a Gaggenau undercounter freezer, built-in fridge and oven. A minimalist, porcelain-clad sink is topped with a Neolith Calacatta Gold worktop, bookmatched to extend behind the glazed wall cabinets to ensure a continuous pattern of veins.
Elegant pocket doors open to reveal a bar cupboard, concealed within the built-in cabinetry. Finished with an antique brass fiddle rail and stemware glass holders, the antique bronze mirror backdrop softens the contemporary lines of the cabinetry and brings light, reflection and a hint of romance into the design.
The Service Kitchen
Destined to be one of the most-used rooms in the house, Langstaff designed the service kitchen as a chef’s kitchen, flawlessly executed to be both stylish and practical. With large, free-standing Bertazzoni appliances, the spraypainted J-profile handleless kitchen maximises space while concealing all the services necessary for a busy kitchen. Reinforcing the sleek, industrial aesthetic, stainless steel shelving lines two of the walls, with hooks for utensils underneath.
The Dining Room
For the grandest room in the house, Langstaff proposed built-in cabinetry, cleverly designed to give the appearance of freestanding furniture. Crafted to follow the contours of the decorative Bolection mouldings on the wall, with curved doors and a chamfered edge, the workmanship and attention to detail shines in these custom-made pieces, which are beautifully finished with a Tanganica Figured Anegre veneer.
The Master Bedroom & Adjoining Dressing Suite
Dominated by a dramatic, curved, floor-to-ceiling headboard with solid oak chamfered detail, backdropped by a wallpaper mural, this statement piece is joined on either side by full-height wardrobes. Measuring an impressive 3 metres in height, in keeping with the proportions of this high-ceilinged room, the wardrobe doors are glazed in smoked bronze glass and finished in Black Teak Brass liquid metal, creating a sense of continuity between the bedroom and the kitchen.
With glazed doors, items are always on display, so Langstaff’s designers introduced thoughtful details into the wardrobe design to enable belongings to be tidied away, softly illuminated by LED lighting. These included leather-lined shoe racks, antique brass rails and cubby holes for small accessories. A floating vanity area completes the room.
Leading off of the master bedroom, the dressing suite is intentionally stripped back, maximising the space in this small room. A completely bespoke configuration for the project, the posts in the openwardrobe rail system are coated in liquid metal, a Langstaff speciality finish, with floating drawer packs providing more space for accessories.
