Inspired by the contemporary elegance of Italian design, the kitchen is a sleek, high-functioning space tailored to the needs of modern family life. The bespoke cabinetry is crafted in specially pressed oak veneer with a custom stain, its clean lines framed in Langstaff’s signature liquid metal—a unique finish that adds warmth and depth.

At its centre, a curved island clad in Taj Mahal leathered quartzite offers both sculptural presence and everyday practicality, its softened silhouette conceived with young children in mind. A hidden breakfast cupboard reveals oak-trimmed, glass-fronted drawers, a built-in coffee machine and custom-designed storage, including solid wood spice racks, a knife block and compartments for tea and coffee. Throughout, intuitive design details—like a fridge positioned at child height—ensure the space is accommodating to the whole family.

The Entrance Hall

Langstaff’s bespoke oak veneer cabinetry brings elegance and order to the entrance hall, combining integrated bench seating with overhead cupboards and shoe storage below. Antique brass hooks from Armac Martin introduce a classic touch, while behind the joinery, essential utilities are seamlessly concealed—an example of how beauty and function were considered from the outset.

The Banquette Dining Area

Adjacent to the kitchen is the dining area, where Langstaff’s custom-crafted banquette offers a cosy nook for family mealtimes, upholstered in a durable olive-green velour by Zimmer + Rohde. Beneath the seat, hidden storage keeps toys and games neatly out of sight.

The Reception Room

Opening out from the banquette dining area, the reception room introduces a shift in mood and materiality, moving into a more layered, atmospheric palette designed for relaxing together. Langstaff’s bespoke cabinetry and softly backlit shelving are crafted in richly grained eucalyptus veneer, with liquid metal detailing subtly echoing the kitchen’s design language. The back panels are lined in a durable woven-effect wallcovering by Phillip Jeffries, offering the look of natural fabric with the practicality of vinyl.

Beneath the upholstered window seat, built-in storage offers an elegant solution for hiding children’s books and toys at the end of the day, with hand-forged Ged Kennett handles providing a final artisanal flourish.

The Principal Bedroom

A retreat for the adults of the house, the principal bedroom embraces a refined, tranquil palette. The headboard, framed in custom-stained oak, is upholstered in traditionally woven fabrics in two complementary tones—natural and teal—chosen for their sense of calm. Along one wall, the bespoke floor-to-ceiling wardrobes are painted in Paint & Paper Library’s Stone II and fitted with Ged Kennett’s hand-forged handles. At the centre, a pair of push-to-open doors are discreetly integrated into the design, leading to the ensuite bathroom. When closed, the doors sit perfectly flush, preserving the room’s symmetry and sense of order.

The Children’s Bedrooms

Each child’s room has been designed with its own identity, combining playful touches with materials that will stand the test of time. Langstaff’s bespoke, painted wardrobes are inset with wallpaper inlays—Romo Edie Chalk in the boy’s room, and Phillip Jeffries Vinyl Soho Hemp in the girl’s—both chosen for their soft texture and wipeable durability. Low-level drawers and integrated desks in the window recesses promote independence and creative play, while Corston Architectural handles add a refined, design-led finish.

The Playroom

Located on the lower ground floor, the children’s playroom is designed for movement and imagination. Painted in Farrow & Ball’s Green Smoke, Langstaff’s wall-to-wall cabinetry features classic shaker doors, open shelving and generous low-level storage, making it easy for little ones to take the lead when it comes to tidying up. Built to keep up with busy days and curious minds, it’s a room that is ready for whatever the day brings.
