The Milestone Hotel
At the five-star Milestone Hotel in Kensington, Langstaff was commissioned to transform the historic Stables Bar—once a home for the horses of Victorian aristocrats—into a richly layered space that feels entirely renewed while staying true to the spirit of the original. Working within the constraints of a Grade II-listed building, the design doubles the bar’s capacity and connects it to the adjoining orangerie, creating a sense of flow, depth and modern equestrian elegance.

Working within the constraints of a Grade II-listed building, the design doubles the bar’s capacity and connects it to the adjoining orangerie, creating a sense of flow, depth and modern equestrian elegance.
Heritage in the Details
To bring cohesion to the previously disjointed bar and orangerie, Langstaff introduced an S-shaped bar and floor-to-ceiling mirrored dressers, reflecting the light and expanding the sense of space. A nod to the bar’s equestrian origins, flat mahogany wall panelling, stained with a custom antique wash, adds architectural depth. Layered with natural stone, soft leather, aged mirrors and warm brass detailing, the space combines the freshness of a new design with the familiarity of something long established.
